Rene 41 is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-base superalloy strengthened by the formation of gamma-prime [Ni₃(Al,Ti)] during aging. The alloy is produced using vacuum melting (VIM + VAR/ESR) to ensure high purity and metallurgical consistency. The AMS 5712 condition is solution heat treated and precipitation hardenable — supplied in the soft, workable state for forming and machining, with final properties achieved after aging.

Fabrication & Material Comparison

  • Solution Treatment (As-Supplied): 1066-1177°C (1950-2150°F), water quench or rapid air cool

  • Aging: 760°C (1400°F) × 16 hours, air cool

  • Cold Working: Can be cold worked to adjust mechanical properties

  • Machining: Good machinability in solution treated condition; more difficult after aging

  • Heading: Heading stock available for fastener manufacturing

  • Flash Welded Rings: Available for seamless, high-integrity ring components
