Waspaloy is a nickel-based age-hardenable alloy that possesses high-temperature strength while maintaining good corrosion resistance, especially to oxidation. It can be used at temperatures up to 650°C (1200°F) for critical rotating applications. The alloy is widely used in gas turbine engine components, missile systems, shafts, spacers, seals, rings, casings, fasteners, and many other engine hardware and airframe assemblies.
Specifications & Available Waspaloy is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-base superalloy strengthened by the formation of gamma-prime [Ni₃(Al,Ti)] during aging. The alloy is produced using consumable electrode or vacuum induction melting (VIM) to ensure high purity and metallurgical consistency. The AMS 5544L condition is annealed, providing a soft, workable state for forming and fabrication prior to final heat treatment. The anneal is performed at 1975°F (1080°C) for 30 minutes followed by air cooling.
