FAQ – Inconel®600 Seamless Pipe

Q1: What is the maximum continuous service temperature?
A1: For continuous service in air, Inconel® 600 can be used up to 2150°F (1177°C). In other atmospheres, the limit depends on the specific environment.

Q2: How does it perform in chloride environments?
A2: Inconel® 600 has good resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, making it suitable for applications where stainless steels might fail, such as in steam generators with contaminated feedwater.

Q3: Is it suitable for nuclear applications?
A3: Yes, Inconel® 600 is widely used in nuclear power plants for control rod drive mechanisms, reactor vessel internals, and steam generator tubing (though largely replaced by 690 for new builds).

Q4: What welding methods are recommended?
A4: GTAW (TIG) and GMAW (MIG) using matching Inconel 62 or 82 filler metals. SMAW (stick) with ENiCrFe-2 or -3 electrodes.
