AMS 5833 Elgiloy Cobalt Alloy Round Wire

AMS 5833 specification covers a corrosion and heat-resistant cobalt alloy in the form of round wire 0.001 to 0.140 inch (0.025 to 3.56 mm) inclusive in nominal diameter supplied in straight lengths or coils.

Elgiloy® is a cobalt alloy wire. It is a non-magnetic Cobalt-Chromium-Nickel-Molybdenum alloy having a unique combination of very high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and high fatigue strength. Elgiloy® wire is highly resistant to sulfide stress corrosion cracking and as a result, is the alloy of choice in the most demanding sour well environments.

In seawater Elgiloy® is virtually immune to crevice and stress corrosion and pitting even at the highest strength levels and can operate at cryogenic temperatures up to 850°F (454°C). Elgiloy Springs have an applications range from freshwater to industrial and marine atmospheres, and mild chemical and oxidizing environments.
