Elgiloy is a cobalt-chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloy offering a unique combination of ultra-high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and exceptional fatigue life. With a nominal composition of 40% cobalt, 20% chromium, 15% nickel, and 7% molybdenum, this alloy maintains its properties from cryogenic temperatures up to 454°C (850°F). It is highly resistant to sulfide stress corrosion cracking (NACE MR0175/ISO 15156-3) and immune to crevice and pitting corrosion in seawater, making it the preferred material for critical springs, medical devices, and sour service components .
