Alloy A‑286 is an iron‑nickel‑chromium precipitation‑hardening superalloy engineered for high‑strength service at continuous operating temperatures up to 1300 °F (704 °C). It delivers excellent corrosion resistance, outstanding notch ductility and superior notch‑rupture strength compared with many competing high‑temperature commercial alloys. Its mechanical performance can be stably reproduced through standardized solution treatment followed by age hardening, ensuring consistent maximum strength across mass‑production batches. Two typical solution treatment routes are widely adopted: 1800 °F (980 °C) solution treatment delivers optimal creep‑rupture strength after aging; while 1650 °F (900 °C) solution treatment achieves improved ductility and room‑temperature strength.
