Inconel 722 (UNS N07722) is an age-hardenable nickel-chromium superalloy that derives exceptional strength from precipitation hardening (γ' and γ'' phases). It achieves yield strength exceeding 150 ksi (1035 MPa) while maintaining superb corrosion resistance. This alloy combines ultra-high strength with excellent corrosion resistance, retaining properties at elevated temperatures for critical applications in aerospace, oil & gas, and chemical processing industries.

Fabrication Guidelines

Process	Guidelines
Machining	Machine in annealed condition. Requires rigid setups, sharp tooling, positive rake angles, water-base coolants. Work-hardens rapidly.
Forming	Cold form with heavy lubricants. Avoid plain carbon steel tooling (galling risk).
Welding	Readily weldable (GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG, SMAW). Use matching filler (ERNiFeCr-2). Post-weld solution + aging required for full properties in HAZ.
