As a leading manufacturer and supplier based in China, ZYTC Alloy delivers superior-grade, cost-effective nickel alloy solutions. Our Hastelloy® G-3 represents an advanced nickel-chromium-iron alloy enhanced with molybdenum and copper, specifically engineered to withstand both oxidizing and reducing environments that challenge conventional materials. 1. Product Specifications & PropertiesAlloy G-3 is a nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum alloy with copper addition, refined from original G alloy with tighter chemistry control and lower carbon. The balanced composition provides resistance to a wide range of corrosives while offering improved thermal stability during welding. Chemical Composition (%, range)| Element | Content |
|---|
| Nickel, Ni | Remainder | | Chromium, Cr | 21.0-23.5 | | Iron, Fe | 18.0-21.0 | | Molybdenum, Mo | 6.0-8.0 | | Copper, Cu | 1.5-2.5 | | Cobalt, Co | 5.0 max | | Carbon, C | 0.015 max |

2. Operating Conditions & Selection GuidelinesIdeal Media: Resists sulfuric and phosphoric acids across various concentrations. Suitable for flue gas desulfurization environments, sour gas service, and applications requiring resistance to both oxidizing and reducing conditions. Copper and molybdenum combination enhances performance in sulfuric acid Critical Advantage: Lower carbon content (0.015% max) compared to original G alloy minimizes carbide precipitation during welding, improving intergranular corrosion resistance in heat-affected zones Temperature Range: Annealed at 1177°C (2150°F) with rapid quench. Service temperatures vary by environment; mechanical properties at elevated temperatures available upon request Common Applications: Sulfuric and phosphoric acid production equipment, pollution control scrubbers, sour gas handling components, chemical reactors, heat exchangers, and industrial waste treatment systems
3. Fabrication & Material ComparisonForming Characteristics: Suitable for both hot and cold forming operations. Cold working requires proper lubrication to prevent galling. Responds well to standard forming methods Welding Considerations: Compatible with all common techniques including GTAW/TIG, SMAW, and submerged arc welding using matching filler metals. Improved thermal stability reduces risk of sensitization compared to original G alloy Heat Treatment: Annealing at 1177°C (2150°F) followed by rapid air or water quench to restore corrosion resistance after hot working Machining: Good machinability using conventional techniques with water-based coolants to control work-hardening. Sharp tooling and rigid setups recommended Versus Original G Alloy: G-3 offers improved weldability and intergranular corrosion resistance due to lower carbon content and tighter chemistry control. Preferred for applications requiring extensive welding Versus C-276: More cost-effective for sulfuric and phosphoric acid service where C-276's higher molybdenum is not required. G-3 offers better resistance to certain mixed acid streams containing fluorides Versus 317L Stainless: Significantly superior resistance to hot acids and chlorides. Specified where stainless steels fail within short service periods Product Forms: Available as plates, sheets, bars, billets, pipes, tubes, welding products, filler metals, and custom fabrications
