As a leading China-based manufacturer and supplier, ZYTC Alloy delivers high-performance, cost-effective nickel alloy solutions. Our Hastelloy® G-30 (UNS N06030) represents a sophisticated nickel-chromium-iron alloy specifically engineered to excel in environments containing oxidizing acids, particularly those involving nitric acid and complex chemical mixtures.

1. Product Specifications & Properties

Alloy G-30 is a nickel-chromium-iron alloy with high chromium content (28-31.5%) and controlled additions of molybdenum, tungsten, and copper. The chemistry is optimized for resistance to oxidizing environments while maintaining good fabricability.

2. Operating Conditions & Selection Guidelines

  • Ideal Media: Exceptional resistance to nitric acid, nitrating acids, and mixed acid streams containing oxidizing agents. Excellent performance in phosphoric acid, particularly in P₂O₅ evaporator service where fluorides and chlorides may be present

  • Critical Advantage: High chromium content (28-31.5%) provides superior resistance to oxidizing media compared to earlier G alloys and C-type alloys. Maintains good resistance in reducing environments due to molybdenum and copper content

  • Temperature Range: Solution annealed at 1177°C (2150°F) with rapid quench. Service temperatures vary by environment; maintains integrity across typical chemical processing temperature ranges

  • Common Applications: Nitric acid production and concentration equipment, nuclear fuel reprocessing components (reboilers, dissolvers), phosphoric acid evaporator tubes, pickling equipment, chemical reactors, pumps, agitator blades, and heat exchangers

3. Fabrication & Material Comparison

  • Forming Characteristics: Good ductility at elevated temperatures allows for hot forming. Suitable for cold forming with appropriate lubrication. Responds well to standard methods

  • Welding Considerations: Compatible with GTAW/TIG, SMAW, and submerged arc welding using matching filler metals. Maintains corrosion resistance in welded areas when proper procedures are followed

  • Heat Treatment: Solution annealing at 1177°C (2150°F) followed by rapid cooling (water quench or rapid air cool) restores optimal corrosion resistance after hot working

  • Forging: Good forgeability due to ductile properties at elevated temperatures. Typical forging range available upon request

  • Machining: Good machinability using conventional techniques with water-based coolants to control work-hardening. Sharp tooling and rigid setups recommended

  • Versus G-3: Significantly higher chromium content provides superior resistance to oxidizing acids, particularly nitric acid. G-30 is preferred where oxidizing conditions dominate or where mixed acids contain strong oxidizers

  • Versus C-276: G-30 offers better resistance in nitric and nitrating acid environments. C-276 remains preferred for strong reducing conditions. G-30 provides a balance for mixed acid streams with significant oxidizing components

  • Versus 310 Stainless: Substantially higher resistance to nitric acid at elevated temperatures and concentrations. Resists intergranular corrosion where stainless steels may sensitize
