Based in China, ZYTC Alloy supplies Hastelloy® C-22 (UNS N06022) for applications requiring broad-spectrum corrosion resistance across both oxidizing and reducing environments. The alloy is suitable for chemical processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and pollution control systems.

1. Product Specifications & Properties

Alloy C-22 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy with controlled iron and carbon content. Its balanced chemistry provides enhanced resistance to localized corrosion compared to earlier C-type alloys, while maintaining versatility across diverse corrosive media.

2. Operating Conditions & Selection Guidelines

  • Ideal Media: Suitable for both oxidizing acids (nitric, chromic) and reducing acids (hydrochloric, sulfuric). Particularly effective in mixed acid environments and acid-chloride conditions where pitting and crevice corrosion are concerns

  • Temperature Range: Maintains corrosion resistance up to elevated temperatures typical of chemical processing. Annealing performed at 1122°C (2050°F)

  • Critical Advantage: Offers superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in chloride-bearing environments compared to stainless steels and many nickel alloys

  • Common Applications: Flue gas desulfurization scrubbers, chlorination systems, pharmaceutical processing equipment, nuclear fuel handling systems, pulp bleaching plants, and wastewater treatment components

3. Fabrication & Material Comparison

  • Forming Characteristics: Suitable for both hot and cold forming operations using standard equipment. Good ductility allows for complex shapes

  • Welding Considerations: Excellent weldability using GTAW/TIG, GMAW, and plasma arc methods. Submerged arc welding not recommended. Resists sensitization in the heat-affected zone, allowing as-welded service for most applications

  • Machining: Compatible with high-speed steel and carbide tooling using conventional coolants. Work-hardening characteristics require rigid setups and sharp tooling

  • Versus C-276: C-22 offers improved resistance to localized corrosion and better performance in oxidizing media due to higher chromium content. Provides broader versatility across mixed-acid environments

  • Versus C-4: Higher molybdenum and tungsten content gives C-22 superior resistance to reducing conditions, while maintaining good thermal stability

  • Product Forms: Available as bar, forging stock, sheet, plate, and welding wire. Custom fabrications available upon request
