Operating Conditions & Selection GuidelinesIdeal Media: Resists sulfuric and phosphoric acids in various concentrations. Suitable for flue gas desulfurization environments, mixed acid streams, and applications requiring resistance to both oxidizing and reducing conditions. Copper addition enhances resistance to sulfuric acid Critical Advantage: Niobium stabilization prevents intergranular corrosion in welded areas. Good resistance to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking and pitting Temperature Range: Annealed at 1177°C (2150°F) with rapid quench. Forging performed at 927-1149°C (1700-2100°F). Fabrication & Material ComparisonForming Characteristics: Suitable for both hot and cold forming operations using conventional methods. Good ductility allows for complex shapes Welding Considerations: Weldable by GTAW/TIG, SMAW, and submerged arc methods. Niobium stabilization reduces risk of sensitization in heat-affected zones. Good intergranular corrosion resistance in as-welded condition Heat Treatment: Annealing at 1177°C (2150°F) followed by rapid air or water quench to restore corrosion resistance after hot working Machining: Good machinability using conventional techniques with water-based coolants.
