ZYTC Alloy is an ISO 9001 and AS 9120B certified superalloy manufacturer and supplier, offering AMS 5707P Waspaloy nickel bar at factory-direct prices with full material traceability and fast global delivery.

AMS5707P is the Aerospace Material Specification covering a corrosion- and heat-resistant nickel alloy in the form of bars, forgings, flash welded rings, and forging stock. This specification applies to Waspaloy produced from consumable electrode remelted or vacuum induction melted material, ensuring superior cleanliness, consistent chemistry, and enhanced mechanical properties critical for demanding aerospace applications.

The specification limits product size to a nominal 3.25 inches (82.6 mm) and under in diameter or maximum cross-sectional dimension between parallel sides (thickness). Forging stock of any size is also covered, providing flexibility for manufacturers producing larger custom components.

Heat Treatment Requirements

AMS5707P requires a three-step heat treatment sequence to develop the alloy's full mechanical potential:

Heat Treatment StepTemperature RangePurpose
Solution Treatment1825 to 1900°F (996 to 1038°C)Dissolves precipitates for uniform chemistry
Stabilization TreatmentAs specifiedPrepares microstructure for aging
Precipitation (Aging) TreatmentAs specifiedForms gamma prime strengthening phases

This comprehensive heat treatment sequence—solution, stabilization, and precipitation—optimizes the size, distribution, and volume fraction of strengthening precipitates, enabling the alloy to achieve its maximum mechanical properties before delivery to the customer.

Operating Conditions & Selection Criteria

Waspaloy fully heat treated bar and rings (AMS 5707P) are specified when designers require a nickel-base superalloy with full precipitation hardened strength at delivery — ready for jet engine hot-section and structural ring applications operating up to 649°C (1200°F) under sustained mechanical load in rotating service.

  • Service Temperature Range: Optimized for operation up to 649°C (1200°F) under sustained mechanical load in rotating service

  • Fully Heat Treated: Supplied in solution, stabilization, and precipitation heat treated condition — no additional aging required by customer

  • High Strength: Minimum tensile strength of 185 ksi (1276 MPa) and yield strength of 155 ksi (1069 MPa)

  • Ring Form: The ring form covered by AMS 5707 — produced by ring-rolling or open-die forging to a toroidal shape — is the standard product form for turbine containment rings, engine case flanges, rotor spacer rings, and compressor ring assemblies

  • Fatigue Strength: Excellent fatigue properties for rotating components

  • Creep Resistance: Superior creep-rupture strength for sustained high-temperature loading

  • Oxidation Resistance: Good resistance to oxidation in gas turbine combustion atmospheres

Applications

  • Turbine Containment Rings: Safety rings for jet engine turbine sections

  • Engine Case Flanges: Structural flanges for engine casings

  • Rotor Spacer Rings: Precision spacers for rotor assemblies

  • Compressor Ring Assemblies: Rings for compressor sections

  • Jet Engine Hot-Section Components: Parts requiring full precipitation hardened strength at delivery

  • Structural Ring Applications: Components operating up to 1200°F (649°C) under sustained mechanical load in rotating service
