AMS 5596 is a leading aerospace material specification that governs corrosion and heat-resistant Alloy 718 (Inconel 718 / UNS N07718 / 2.4668) in sheet, strip, foil and plate forms with a maximum thickness of 1.00 inch (25.4 mm). As a versatile precipitation-hardening nickel-chromium superalloy strengthened with niobium, molybdenum, titanium and aluminum, Alloy 718 delivers exceptional tensile strength, creep-rupture resistance and thermal stability at elevated temperatures up to 704°C (1300°F).
 
Distinguished from other high-temperature superalloys, AMS 5596 718 sheet features a sluggish age-hardening response, allowing safe annealing and welding operations without spontaneous hardening or post-weld cracking.
