AMS 5590 specification covers a corrosion- and heat-resistant nickel alloy (Alloy 718 / UNS N07718) in the form of seamless tubing having nominal outside diameter of 0.125 inch (3.18 mm) and over, with nominal wall thickness of 0.015 inch (0.38 mm) and over. Alloy 718 is an austenitic nickel-based superalloy that exhibits excellent high yield tensile and creep-rupture properties at temperatures up to 704°C (1300°F) and oxidation resistance up to 982°C (1800°F). This alloy is widely used in applications requiring high strength, including jet engine components and high-speed airframe parts such as wheels, buckets, spacers, and high-temperature bolts and fasteners.
