AMS 4676 Alloy K-500 (Monel K-500 / UNS N05500 / 2.4375) is a precipitation-hardened nickel-copper alloy with 965 MPa tensile strength and excellent corrosion resistance in seawater and HF acid. Used for pump shafts, oil-well tools, propeller shafts, springs, and doctor blades. Available in bar, forgings, sheet, plate, pipe, and tube. ZYTC Alloy supplies certified material with full traceability.

Availability

Alloy K-500 (UNS N05500) is available in Bar (Rounds, Flat), Round Bar, Flat Bar, Sheet, Strip, Plate, Rod, Wire, Forgings, Pipe and Tube. For all stock availability contact ZYTC Alloy Sales.

Fabrication

  • Annealing: 843-871°C (1550-1600°F) × 10-30 minutes, water quench; relieves cold work stresses and restores soft condition .

  • Aging: 566-607°C (1050-1125°F) × 16-24 hours, air cool; develops full precipitation hardening .

  • Hot Working: 927-1177°C (1700-2150°F); reheat as necessary; avoid working below 871°C .

  • Cold Working: Good formability in annealed condition; work-hardening rate moderate .

  • Machining: More difficult than Alloy 400 due to higher strength; requires sharp tools, positive feeds, and adequate lubrication .

  • Welding: Good weldability using GTAW (TIG); post-weld aging required to restore properties; matching filler metal (ERNiCu-7) recommended.
