2. Fabrication & Material Comparison

  • Annealing: 843-871°C (1550-1600°F) × 10-30 minutes, water quench or air cool; relieves cold work stresses and restores ductility .

  • Hot Working: 927-1177°C (1700-2150°F); reheat as necessary; avoid working below 871°C .

  • Cold Working: Good formability; can be bent, stamped, and drawn; work-hardening rate moderate .

  • Machining: Good machinability; requires sharp tools, positive feeds, and adequate lubrication .

  • Welding: Excellent weldability using GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), and resistance welding; matching filler metal (ERNiCu-7) recommended.

3. Applications

  • Marine Engineering: Seawater tanks, marine sheathing, boat hulls, offshore platform components

  • Chemical Processing: Process vessels, storage tanks, reactor linings, agitator blades, baffle plates

  • Hydrocarbon Processing: Heat exchanger plates, distillation column trays, cladding for refinery equipment

  • Heat Exchangers: Plate-type heat exchangers, gaskets, sealing components
