AMS5871G specification covers a corrosion- and heat-resistant iron-nickel-chromium alloy (Incoloy 800 / UNS N08800) in the form of sheet, strip, and plate from 0.010 to 2.00 inches (0.25 to 50.8 mm) in nominal thickness. The 800 series alloys—800, 800H (UNS N08810), and 800HT (UNS N08811)—are nickel-iron-chromium superalloys that offer excellent high-temperature strength and resistance to oxidation, carburization, and other forms of high-temperature corrosion.

Product Specifications & Physical Data

Incoloy 800, 800H, and 800HT share the same basic Ni-Cr-Fe composition but differ in carbon content, Al+Ti levels, and grain size requirements. The"H"designations require controlled chemistry and higher annealing temperatures for improved creep-rupture strength at elevated temperatures .

Fabrication & Heat Treatment

Solution Annealing:
- Alloy 800: 982-1038°C (1800-1900°F), rapid quench
- Alloy 800H/800HT: 1149°C (2100°F) minimum, rapid quench
Hot Working: 1093-1232°C (2000-2250°F); reheat as necessary
Cold Working: Good formability; can be cold rolled, bent, and stamped
Machining: Good machinability; similar to austenitic stainless steels; requires sharp tools and adequate lubrication
Welding: Excellent weldability using GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), and SMAW; matching filler metal (ERNiCr-3 or ERNiFeCr-1) recommended
