ZYTC Alloy is an ISO 9001 and AS 9120B certified superalloy manufacturer and supplier, offering AMS 5663 Alloy 718 bars in the precipitation hardened condition at factory-direct prices with full material traceability and fast global delivery. AMS 5663 specification covers a corrosion- and heat-resistant nickel alloy (Alloy 718 / UNS N07718) in the form of bars, forgings, and flash welded rings in the solution and precipitation heat treated condition. Product covered by this specification is limited to 10.00 inches (254 mm) and under in nominal diameter or maximum cross-sectional dimension. Stock may be of any size for forging or flash welded rings. AMS 5663 is the spec that covers precipitation hardened INCONEL 718 alloy, which is strengthened with niobium, molybdenum, aluminum, and titanium, providing excellent mechanical, fatigue, and corrosion properties in both cryogenic and high-temperature environments.
Specifications & AvailableParts originally manufactured to AMS 5662 (solution annealed condition) can be subjected to a heat treatment in accordance with AMS 5663 to achieve full precipitation hardened properties. The routine sequence of heat treatment consists of an 8-hour dwell at 718°C (1325°F), furnace cooling at 55°C/hr (100°F/hr) to 621°C (1150°F), holding 8 hours, and then air cooling. Available Forms: Bar, forgings, flash welded rings (up to 10.00″ / 254 mm), forging stock Specifications: AMS 5663 (precipitation hardened), AMS 5662 (solution annealed), ASTM B637, ASME SB-637, UNS N07718, Werkstoff Nr. 2.4668
Fabrication Precipitation Hardening Heat Treatment (AMS 5663): Step 1: 718°C (1325°F) × 8 hours Step 2: Furnace cool at 55°C/hr (100°F/hr) to 621°C (1150°F) Step 3: Hold 8 hours at 621°C (1150°F) Step 4: Air cool to room temperature
Hot Working: 1010-1093°C (1850-2000°F); reheat as necessary Cold Working: Moderate formability; typically performed in solution annealed condition before aging Machining: More difficult in aged condition; best performed in solution annealed condition (AMS 5662) before precipitation hardening Welding: Good weldability using GTAW (TIG); post-weld aging required to restore properties
