AMS 5662 specification covers a corrosion- and heat-resistant nickel alloy (Alloy 718 / UNS N07718) in the form of bars, forgings, and flash welded rings in the solution heat treated condition. Product covered by this specification is limited to 10.00 inches (254 mm) and under in nominal diameter or maximum cross-sectional dimension. Stock for forging, ring, or heading may be of any size. AMS 5662 Alloy 718 is a nickel-chromium-based superalloy in the solution annealed condition. This is the softest of the alloy's states and can offer a machining benefit when used. ZYTC Alloy is an ISO 9001 and AS 9120B certified superalloy manufacturer and supplier, offering AMS 5662 Alloy 718 bars at factory-direct prices with full material traceability and fast global delivery.
FabricationSolution Annealing: 954-982°C (1750-1800°F) × 1 hour, air cool or faster; supplied in this condition (AMS 5662) . Aging: 718-732°C (1325-1350°F) × 8 hours, furnace cool to 621°C (1150°F) × 8-18 hours, air cool (AMS 5663) . Hot Working: 1010-1093°C (1850-2000°F); reheat as necessary . Cold Working: Moderate formability in solution annealed condition . Machining: Excellent machinability in solution annealed condition (AMS 5662); softer state provides machining benefit . Welding: Good weldability using GTAW (TIG); post-weld aging required to restore properties .
