AMS 5599 is the SAE/AMS specification for corrosion- and heat-resistant nickel alloy sheet, strip, and plate (nominally up to 1.000 inch / 25.4 mm thick) produced to the Alloy 625 chemistry and condition for annealed / solution treated material.

Alloy 625 (AMS 5599, UNS N06625) is a nickel-based superalloy with excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion. The nickel-chromium matrix of this material is reinforced by the addition of molybdenum and niobium, which is alloyed through solid solution strengthening. This process allows Inconel® 625 to maintain high strength and toughness at temperatures ranging from cryogenic up to 1800°F (982°C).

Due to its high nickel content, this alloy is nearly immune to chloride ion stress-corrosion cracking and pitting – which is commonly found in thin-walled seawater applications like heat exchangers, fasteners, and cable sheathing.
