AL-6XN is a nitrogen-strengthened super-austenitic stainless steel with high nickel (23.5-25.5%), molybdenum (6-7%), and nitrogen (0.18-0.25%) content, specifically engineered to resist chloride stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion. With a Pitting Resistance Equivalent (PRE) significantly exceeding 316L, it offers exceptional performance in seawater, flue gas desulfurization, and chemical processing applications. Nitrogen strengthening provides higher strength than conventional 300 series austenitics, enabling thinner section designs .

2. Fabrication & Material ComparisonHeat Treatment: Solution anneal at 1120-1170°C (2050-2140°F), rapid water quench; cannot be hardened by heat treatment . Hot Working: Forge at 1095-1175°C (2000-2150°F); reheat as necessary; rapid cooling after working recommended .
