ASTM B168 Alloy 600 Nickel Alloy Plate & Sheet
Alloy 600, also known as UNS N06600, is a solid-solution strengthened nickel-chromium-iron alloy engineered for corrosive and high-temperature service conditions. It performs reliably from cryogenic temperatures all the way up to 2000°F (approx. 1093°C). This alloy also delivers excellent weldability, good machinability and consistent high strength. Whether you require Alloy 600 sheet for heat exchangers or thick Alloy 600 plate for furnace construction, ZYTC Alloy can supply standard sizes or custom cut pieces tailored to your drawings. Mechanical Properties of ASTM B168 Alloy 600 Plate / Sheet (Solution Annealed)
FormingAlloy 600 superalloy features excellent ductility and can be formed via conventional metalworking methods. Higher-capacity forming equipment is recommended to complete the forming process smoothly. Contact us early if you have special forming tolerance requirements for your Alloy 600 strip or plate. WeldingAlloy 600 is suitable for all common conventional welding processes, including GTAW (TIG), SMAW, GMAW (MIG/MAG) and submerged arc welding. Filler metals matching the base alloy composition are strongly recommended. Prior to welding, all joint surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned to remove grease, paint and marker residues to avoid weld defects. If you need Alloy 600 plate with weld-friendly surface finish, share your welding requirements when submitting your inquiry. Heat TreatmentThe standard solution annealing treatment for Alloy 600 is holding at 1010°C (1850°F) for 15 minutes followed by air cooling. ZYTC Alloy can provide Alloy 600 plate and sheet with controlled heat treatment status per your technical requirements. ForgingForging of Alloy 600 should be carried out within the temperature range of 1232°C to 1038°C (2250°F to 1900°F). Hot WorkingHot working operations for Alloy 600 are acceptable between 1232°C and 871°C (2250°F to 1600°F). This alloy shows reduced ductility in the 649°C to 871°C (1200°F to 1600°F) range, so working within this temperature window should be avoided. Our technical team can provide hot working guidance for your downstream fabrication if needed. Cold WorkingAlloy 600 can be cold worked using standard tooling. To minimize galling and achieve superior surface finish, softer tool materials such as bronze or zinc alloy dies are recommended, though these tool types come with a shorter service life. Let us know your surface and tolerance expectations, and we will recommend the most suitable Alloy 600 sheet or strip for your cold forming process.
