AMS 5734 is a key aerospace specification governing A286 (UNS S66286) corrosion and heat-resistant alloy bars, wires, forgings, and mechanical tubing with maximum section sizes up to 5.00 inches (127 mm). As a premium iron-nickel-chromium superalloy strengthened with molybdenum and titanium, A286 features outstanding high-temperature stability, excellent oxidation resistance and superior mechanical performance under extreme thermal cycling conditions.
 
Capable of continuous stable service at temperatures up to 1300°F (704°C), AMS 5734 A286 bars are widely recognized in aviation power systems and industrial gas turbine industries. Thanks to its balanced formability, weldability and customizable heat treatment performance, this alloy can be precisely tuned for either maximum creep rupture strength or improved ductility, making it one of the most versatile precipitation-hardening aerospace alloys.

Key Note: The 1800°F (982°C) solution treatment produces the highest creep-rupture strength in age-hardened material, whereas the 1650°F (899°C) treatment results in improved ductility and room temperature strength

Heat Treatment

A286 bar can be solution treated at the temperatures detailed below, rapid cooled, and then age hardened at 1325°F (718°C) for 16 hours followed by air cooling .
