Professional Heat Treatment Process & Mechanical Parameters

Ti6242 titanium forgings can be further strengthened through standardized quenching and aging (STA) heat treatment based on the annealed state, achieving graded mechanical performance for extreme working conditions.

For 120mm diameter forgings, the industrial standard heat treatment process adopts 980°C/1h/Air cooling + 593°C/8h/Air cooling.

After professional STA treatment, the material delivers superior and stable mechanical properties: room-temperature tensile strength reaches 980 MPa, high-temperature strength maintains nearly 700 MPa at 480°C, and the elongation rate stays above 12%, fully complying with strict aerospace high-temperature durability and load-bearing standards.

Applications

Owing to its remarkable high-temperature creep resistance, superior specific strength, fatigue resistance and structural stability, AMS 4976 Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo titanium forgings are widely utilized in core high-temperature and high-load structural components across aerospace and defense industries:
  • Aircraft Fuselage Structural Components: Ideal for manufacturing aircraft beams, frames and stringers.
