300M steel conforming to AMS 6417 is a premium vacuum remelted low alloy aircraft steel, developed as a modified version of AISI 4340 with increased carbon, molybdenum, alongside silicon and vanadium additions. Featuring exceptional hardenability, this through-hardening alloy delivers ultra-high tensile strength ranging from 280–305 KSI (1930–2100 MPa), balanced with outstanding fracture toughness, fatigue resistance and ductility for extreme-load aerospace service conditions.
